Site Development Manager

Site Development Manager

(12 month Fixed Term Contract until August 2018 initially – 37 hours per week, All Year Round)

£24,174 to £26,822 per annum

The Olympus Academy Trust is entering an exciting period of growth as we continue to design and develop a twenty first century school education for more and more young people within the districts of Bradley Stoke, Filton, Patchway and the surrounding areas.

Patchway Community College has recently been granted funding for the commencement of a vast school refurbishment project to update and improve the facilities and grounds and we are looking for a talented Site Development Manager to join us on a fixed term contract to direct and manage the day to day works of this £4 million refurbishment project, under the direct supervision of the Trust’s Operations Manager.

The Site Development Manager will be the main representative on site and be responsible for ensuring all required works are carried out to the highest possible standards as agreed within the specification, within specified timescales and with due consideration to health, safety and safeguarding standards for all employees, pupils and visitors. This role will provide indirect management/supervision to a number of contractors across a variety of trades. In addition there will be a requirement to ensure the project works are delivered in accordance with the schemes of work that we operate at our other schools.

Intrinsic to the management of the refurbishment project is the requirement for the Site Development Manager to work with the incumbent Site Manager and the Trust’s Operations Manager to ensure that strategic, operational and procedural changes are brought in to reflect the improvement in facilities, and raise the overall standard of site operations in line with best practice and industry standards.

A demonstrable track record of working on education builds/refurbishments worth £3m+ is essential, as is proven experience and associated knowledge of mechanical, electrical and infrastructure requirements in line with relevant building regulations and CDM 2015. Financial and budget management and the ability to translate and interpret information will be key for reporting and communicating updates to stakeholders and first class planning and time management skills will ensure each stage of the project is completed on time and within budget.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a HNC or equivalent in Mechanical and Electrical engineering and ideally be APM qualified. Extensive relevant health and safety and first aid knowledge is imperative.

You will be able to work quickly and efficiently and build collaborative and effective relationships with internal and external teams. At the same time you will demonstrate awareness of the education setting you are operating within, understand school roles and responsibilities and be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.

We are fully committed to the safeguarding and promoting of welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful applicant to undertake an enhanced Disclosure & Barring check. This post is subject to the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009 and as such, shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a Disqualification Declaration. Any information supplied will be discussed at interview.

The closing date for receipt of applications is midday on Friday 11th August 2017 with interviews being held on Thursday 24th August 2017.
